Senator Jennifer Beck (R-Monmouth) issued the following statement after the failure to reach agreement for an constitutional amendment on gaming expansion:
“I am deeply disappointed that Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto and Mayor Fulop from Jersey City have repeatedly constructed roadblocks to the Senate’s gaming expansion constitutional amendment. Speaker Prieto needs to come back to the table and enact a proposal that will provide needed revenue for New Jersey’s seniors and disabled residents. It should be noted that the Senate’s constitutional amendment, providing millions in revenue for New Jersey would also provide some support for the $1 billion equine industry in the State of New Jersey which supports thousands of jobs and hundreds of acres in open space.
Speaker Prieto, Mayor Fulop should stop playing politics & work w/the Senate to pass this constitutional amendment https://t.co/eF8mMYrI4w

“New York and Pennsylvania have continually outmaneuvered New Jersey in the fight for casino revenues. It is time that New Jersey competes to get that business back. Speaker Prieto and Mayor Fulop should stop playing politics and work with the Senate to finalize language for a constitutional amendment that benefits our entire State.”
