Senator Jennifer Beck (R-Monmouth) has co-sponsored legislation filed by Senator Raymond Lesniak (D-Union) that would require the attorney general to appoint a special prosecutor recommended by the Chief Justice of the state Supreme Court if a criminal complaint is filed against the governor and probable cause is found.

“Restoring integrity and public trust to investigations should be a bipartisan issue given the public’s current lack of faith that we’ve seen with respect to Secretary Clinton’s e-mails, police shootings, and during Bridgegate” said Beck. “A special prosecutor to serve as an impartial investigator in cases where probable cause is found will go a long way to restoring the public’s trust in government.”
