Beck Applauds Nomination of Harris and Kwon to NJ Supreme Court

Senator Jennifer Beck applauded Governor Chris Christie for his two most recent nominations to the New Jersey Supreme Court. Governor Christie nominated Phil Kwon and Bruce Harris as Associate Justices on the New Jersey Supreme Court.

“Through these nominations, the Governor has shown that he is looking to create a court that is diverse, well qualified and open minded,” said Beck (R-Monmouth). “Both of these gentlemen are well established members of the legal community who have accumulated resumes that seem to be worthy of these nominations. As a former member of the Judiciary Committee I know there will be a fair and thorough review to ensure that they are the right people for these important jobs.”

“Our state’s top court needs the best legal minds to tackle some of the most difficult issues addressing our state,” explained Beck, a former member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. “Both gentlemen of have exemplary records and qualifications.”

“Mr. Harris graduated from Yale Law School, earned an MBA from the Boston University School of Management and has worked actively in both the private and public legal fields. Mr. Kwon received his law degree from Rutgers University School of Law in Newark and currently serves as First Assistant Attorney General of New Jersey.”

“Our Court needs to have highly qualified, accomplished legal minds. If those minds also bring diversity, it is a significant added benefit to our judicial system,” Beck continued. “These two nominations will help make the highest court in our state more emblematic of the people it’s protecting.”
