The 16th District Delegation Senator Christopher “Kip” Bateman and Assembly Republicans Jack M. Ciattarelli and Donna Simon said today that grants to the Central Jersey Airport in Hillsborough are an important investment in the region’s economy and transportation system.
“Central Jersey Regional Airport is an asset to our area’s economy,” Bateman, R-Somerset, Hunterdon, Mercer and Middlesex said. “This state investment will ensure that this facility continues to thrive for years to come.”
“The airport was one of four in New Jersey that received the state Department of Transportation Airport Improvement Program grants as part of an $11.4 million program to improve roads, rails and airports that were recently announced by the Christie Administration.
“These grants are a worthy investment that will enhance the Central Jersey Airport, which is an important part of our local economy as both a business and a transportation hub,” Ciattarelli, R-Somerset, Hunterdon, Mercer and Middlesex, said. “I applaud this funding that will improve services and make the regional airport safer for our communities.”
One $147,250 grant will support a project to build a general aviation fuel tank and self-service systems, which will replace an old and inadequate fuel tank. The other grant provides $65,246 for security fencing.
“The Central Jersey Airport supports jobs in our communities, pilot instruction and provides a convenient place for aviation enthusiasts and businessmen and women to fly in and out of,” Simon, R-Hunterdon, Somerset, Mercer and Middlesex, said. “Supporting airport facility improvement projects will increase operation efficiencies, create jobs and grow the economy. Improvements and security enhancements allow airports to be great business neighbors to their communities.”
