Assemblywoman Dawn Marie Addiego visited with students at H.L. Beeler School on Maple Avenue in Marlton on October 28, as part of the America’s Legislators Back-to-School Program.
Addiego, a first-year representative in the Assembly, spoke with 88 fourth-grade students about her career as a legislator, the legislative process and how a bill becomes law.
“This is a great program that gives us a chance to get out and meet our young constituents who will be the legislators and the teachers and the doctors of the future,” said Addiego.
Addiego, a Marlton resident who previously served on the Burlington County Board of Chosen Freeholders for eight years and as a councilwoman in Evesham for seven years.
“In an election year like this, students are being exposed to the political process like never before. They are interested and ready to learn about how the government is operated,” said Addiego.
Assemblywoman Addiego represents the 8th Legislative District, which includes Evesham, Eastampton, Hainesport, Lumberton, Mansfield, Medford, Medford Lakes, Moorestown, Mount Laurel, Pemberton Borough, Pemberton Township, Shamong, Southampton, Springfield, Tabernacle, Woodland and Wrightstown.
The 8th District is also represented by Senator Phil Haines and Assemblyman Scott Rudder, and both have also visited schools in the district.
