$400 Billion in Federal Funds at Stake for Local Communities
Senator Sean Kean, Assemblyman Dave Rible and Assemblywoman Mary Pat Angelini are strongly urging all residents to fill out the 2010 United States Census.
“The purpose of the census is to make sure that everyone residing in the United States is properly counted,” said Kean. “Encouraging residents to complete the survey will help to ensure that our area receives an accurate amount of appropriate resources.”

Legislation sponsored by Senator Christopher J. Connors, and supported by Assemblyman Brian E. Rumpf and Assemblywoman DiAnne C. Gove to make various changes to membership requirements of the Veterans’ Services Council was approved today by the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee. The changes are based on recommendations offered by members of the Council. Assemblyman Rumpf and Assemblywoman Gove have signed on as co-sponsors to the Assembly companion measure.

Senator Steve Oroho (R-24)
Legislation sponsored by Senator Steve Oroho, a member of the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee, that would extend the expiration date of the farmland special appraisal process in the Highlands Region passed the Senate Environment Committee today. The bill, S-1004, would extend the date, which expired in June 2009, to 2014.

Senator Tom Goodwin (R-14)
Former Hamilton Township Council President Tom Goodwin has been sworn-in as the new representative of the 14th legislative district in the New Jersey Senate. Goodwin succeeds former-Senator Bill Baroni, who was recently appointed by Governor Chris Christie to serve as the Deputy Executive Director of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
“With so many important issues under consideration in the Legislature, it’s an honor to have the opportunity to be the voice of the 14th district in the New Jersey Senate,” said Goodwin. “I’ll work hard everyday to continue the Baroni/Inverso tradition of superior constituent service and engagement with district residents. The 12th District Legislators are pleased to announced that a bill they sponsor that would require the State to conduct three independent studies of the impact of the privatization of 300 housing units on Naval Weapons Station Earle was passed by a vote of the full State Senate today by a vote of 36-0.
Senator Jennifer Beck (R-12) and Senator Joseph Kyrillos (R-13) are sponsoring the bill in the Senate, and Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande and Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon (both R-12) sponsor the legislation in the General Assembly. The bill is awaiting a hearing in front of the Assembly Military and Veterans Affairs Committee.

Census Forms Will Soon Arrive – Data Determines States’ Representation and Share of Roughly $400 Billion in Annual Aid
With so much riding on the results of the upcoming Census, Senator Jennifer Beck, Assemblywoman Caroline Casagrande and Assemblyman Declan O’Scanlon, all R-Monmouth and Mercer, are encouraging all residents to make sure they are counted so that New Jersey is fairly represented in Congress and does not lose any federal aid because of an inaccurate count.

The 12th District Legislators will be hosting a public meeting to discuss S-917, a bill that would create the Fort Monmouth Revitalization Implementation Authority, on Wednesday, April 21st at 7 p.m. at the Shore Regional High School Cafeteria. The Authority is being created to implement the redevelopment and revitalization plan created by the Fort Monmouth Economic Revitalization Planning Authority.
